Nycil is supporting and promoting independence along the Yorkshire Coast
Nycil is part of the disability sector in North Yorkshire. Our primary aim is to promote and support the independence of disabled people, giving them increased choice and control over their care in their home and community.
Rooted in the Social Model of Disability, we recognise that it’s societal barriers—whether physical, attitudinal, or systemic—that limit opportunities, not necessarily the impairment. Our work supports disabled individuals helping them navigate services, assert their rights, and access the resources they need to thrive.
Recruitment and Payroll Support
Nycil’s core services include assistance in the recruitment of staff through services such as advertising and interview support, and a payroll service, for support once you have found the right person for the job. We also offer our payroll to any small businesses and charities.

We’ve Been Awarded £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve received £20,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, made possible thanks to National Lottery players. This funding will support the delivery of an exciting new two-year project that aims to improve the lives of disabled people and those connected to them in our community.
This project, shaped directly by feedback from our community, will help people live more independently, feel less isolated, and become more connected. Regular, forums and social gatherings will explore important topics like inclusion, access, and independent living – with a focus on peer support, shared experiences, and wellbeing.
We’ll also be offering:
- Accessible taster sessions like wheelchair darts, tactile dominoes, and a “dry pub” concept
- Guest speakers and workshops
- Mental wellbeing sessions, run in partnership with expert organisations
This work builds on our successful My Life to Live (Inclusive Communities) project and represents an exciting evolution. We’re hugely grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund, and to everyone who plays the National Lottery – your support is helping us make a real difference.
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates on how to get involved, and for upcoming events and activities (within the old Scarborough and Ryedale districts due to funding specifics) !
